(May 12, 2015 - Riverhead, NY - RHS vs. Deer Park Falcons)
The Blue Wave beat the Falcons 12 to 2. RHS has an overall record of 12-8 and a league record of 11-7. "Senior Day" is an opportunity for RHS senior athletes and their families to celebrate a team effort and to greet the families that have become friends over the years as they watched their sons play together. The pride is evident in everyone who shares this event. What stood out at this Senior Day was both the success of the team as it enters the playoffs and the fact that every one of the players (except for Cody Weiss who will play college golf) has landed a spot on a college baseball team and in many cases earned an academic scholarship that will help finance their college expenses. The players and their families came on to the field one at a time as one of the coaches, Rich Vlacci, read their names and where they will be playing next year. (See the numbered list to the right of this column.) After the introductions and photos were concluded, the narrator Rich Vlacci continued, "Thank you seniors and your families for your hard work and your commitment to the program. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors." |
