ART-IN-ACTION -- HIGH SCHOOL ART
(May 15, 2015) ART-IN-ACTION is a district-wide celebration of student art. Art from every school in the district and representative of every student artist in the district was assembled for display in the cafeteria, hallways and gymnasium of the high school.
In addition, there are stations throughout the gymnasium set up by the art teachers to encourage those in attendance to sit down and create a work of art. This annual art event is a tribute to our art teachers and their efforts on behalf of their students' work. It is dedicated to the memory of Vinny Nasta, who was an art teacher at RHS. |
There was a special display for senior artists in the Advanced Placement Art room. Two AP art students, Mary Tracy and Melissa Pressler, plan to continue their studies in art. Mary Tracy plans to attend Suffolk County Community College and then attend the Art Institute in NYC. Melissa Pressler was voted "most artistic" in her graduating class and has accepted a Chairman's Merit Award from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in NYC. She plans to attend SVA in the fall and major in illustration.
Kim Guthrie and Raymond Childress III also plan to continue their studies in art in some capacity. However, Kim plans to major in engineering and Raymond (11th grader) plans to major in Personal Training / Fitness with an art minor. Joscelin Morrow will attend Georgia Southern University and is undecided about her major. Erin Plitt would like to thank her teachers "for all their help and support". |
