NJROTC Inspection & Review(December 10, 2015) The Annual NJROTC inspection and Pass-In-Review was held Thursday, December 10, by Comdr. Jimmie Miller, the Area Four Manager. The cadet performance portion of the annual review consists of a personal inspection, color guard performance, drill demonstrations, pass-in-review and cadet briefings to the inspecting officer.
The Unit Commander is Cadet Lt. Cmdr. Nicholas Waldron. Cadet Waldron is a member of the National Honor Society and graduated from the Leadership Academy in Newport, RI in July of 2014. Cadet Waldron is also an All-County Band member. He has been offered a full academic merit scholarship to attend the seminary program at St. John's University. |

Naval Science Instructor Lt. Col. Peter McCarthy reported the following results from the inspection and review, "Commander Miller had high praise for the unit and the Pass- in-Review ceremony, especially the Drill Team performances which he said were the best he has seen this year. The remainder of the Inspection went well. The final report will not be returned for a few weeks, but Cmdr. Miller said there were no discrepancies and that Riverhead NJROTC continues to be one of the premiere units in Area Four."

In their first regional drill meet competition of the year at Bethel, CT, the RHS Drill Team brought home 5 trophies:
Armed Platoon – 2nd Place led by Nicholas Waldron
Unarmed Platoon – 3rd Place led by Dakota Ventresca
NS-1 Platoon – 1st Place led by Jacob Nitti
NS-1 Academic Team – 1st Place led by Jacob Gilmartin
"The Bethel, CT Regional Drill meet included 19 schools and over 800 cadets," noted Lt. Col. McCarthy. "This was the largest regional drill meet in recent memory and included some of the most competitive teams in Area Four, so I am very proud of how well the cadets performed under pressure." >More
